Illustration Work

The following are a few examples of illustration work completed for classes or for personal projects.

01

Visual Music Project

During my MPhil at Trinity College Dublin, I took a course in visual music. The following are the three final images from the project as well as some of the initial thumbnails.

The set of three images I created for this assignment center around feelings of overstimulation through smoke, chatter, and nothingness. The visual context of Futurism, particularly Umberto Boccioni’s Stati d’animo, informed my compositional language. Futurism focused on abandoning the past and looking to a future focused on speed and flight. I was drawn to Boccioni’s work because of the movement in the pieces and the idea of giving visual form to invisible forces. While finding Futurism has a history of misogyny and glorification of war, in Stati d’animo, instead of feelings of praise for rain, wind, farewells, and train smoke as would be indicated from the ideals of Futurism, I found an emphasis on chaos and sadness. This led to my own interpretation of Futurism, featuring more mixed interpretations of modern forces. This is how I landed on the lens of overstimulation for my piece, which is the feeling of being overwhelmed by sensations and information.

CWRU 2023 Sweatshirt Design

In 2023, I hand drawn this wining design for a competition to pick the class sweatshirt for my undergraduate class at Case Western Reserve University. Each smaller drawing represents one of the many activities, majors, and architecture found at CWRU. This includes everything from iconic buildings such as Maltz Performing Arts Center (top of the C) and the Peter B. Lewis Building (bottom of the second 2) to references to Mitchel's Ice cream (right of the U) and the campuses notably large squirrels (bottom of the first 2).

EP Album Art

To the left is the cover I drew for my EP: at the end of random road. I used pens, COPIC markers, and a white acrylic marker to draw the piece and then edited the white balance of the photo in Adobe Photoshop
